Project Description
HYGIENE AND PREVENTION
Oral Health.
Oral Hygiene is a specialty field aimed at the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of common oral diseases such as gingivitis, periodontitis and cavities; its main objective is to promote oral health.
Besides avoiding most mouth problems, good oral hygiene takes on a vital role when it comes to the efficiency of treatments performed in other specialties, such as restorative procedures, prostheses or implants.
Treatments should start around the age of four, when children should be encouraged to promote oral hygiene, and fissure sealants and fluoride varnishes are applied. Later on, patients should be followed by a hygienist on a regular basis, so as to ensure good practices that will control plaque and tartar formation, the main causes for periodontal diseases, are in place.
